Step 3: Fixing Simple Category Mismatches

Welcome to TurboClaim Training! In this guide, we’ll show you how to quickly resolve a simple category mismatch that may occur during the data extraction process from a PDF estimate.

What Is a Simple Category Mismatch?

Sometimes, due to the formatting of the estimate or an extraction quirk, TurboClaim may misinterpret a category and assign it an incorrect or placeholder name such as 'Room 2 (1)' instead of the actual category like 'Rear Elevation'.

How to Fix It

1. Locate the incorrect category in the left-hand dropdown menu (e.g., 'Room 2 (1)').
2. Click the first line item in that category to open the Edit Line Item box.
3. In the 'Category' field, type in the correct category name (e.g., 'Rear').
4. Click 'Update'.

TurboClaim will now create a new category called 'Rear' with that single line item reassigned to it.

Move the Remaining Line Items

1. Go back to the incorrectly named subroom (e.g., 'Room 2 (1)').
2. Click 'Edit Categories'.
3. Use 'Select All' to choose all the line items in that room.
4. Use the new 'Move to' dropdown to select the correct category (e.g., 'Rear').
5. Click 'Save Changes'.

Final Outcome

The incorrectly named subroom will disappear from the dropdown list, and all line items will now be correctly grouped under the intended category—like 'Rear Elevation'.

This quick fix ensures your data stays clean and aligned with the original estimate, so future comparisons and supplements are accurate.
