Step 1: Verifying Data Extraction Accuracy

Welcome to TurboClaim Training! This guide walks you through the essential first step in using TurboClaim: verifying that the system has correctly extracted data from your PDF estimates.

This step is critical to ensure that any comparisons or supplements you generate are based on accurate and complete information.

Why This Step Matters

TurboClaim helps you compare estimates room by room, line item by line item. To do this effectively, you must ensure the extracted data exactly matches the original estimates. Since TurboClaim extracts from PDFs—essentially visual images of numbers—occasional errors may occur during the extraction process.

The good news? TurboClaim gives you the tools to catch and fix these issues before moving on to matching and supplementing.

Step 1: Check the Bottom Line

When your estimates are uploaded into TurboClaim, the system extracts all line item data and displays it on the left-hand side. The original PDF is shown on the right.

Start by comparing the total line item amount from the PDF to what TurboClaim has extracted.

• Scroll to the bottom of the line items on both the extracted data and the PDF.
• In this example, the line item total from the PDF is $27,414.74.
• The extracted data also shows $27,414.74.
✓ Great! The numbers match. This means TurboClaim successfully pulled all the line items from the PDF.

What If the Numbers Don’t Match?

If the totals don’t match, something may have been missed or misread. Do not proceed to the matching or supplement phase until this discrepancy is resolved.

Check for:
• Missing line items
• Incorrect line item totals
• Misread numbers or symbols

Fix any issues using the manual editing tools within TurboClaim

Step 2: Repeat for Both Estimates

Repeat this bottom-line check for both the insurance estimate and the insured (contractor or PA) estimate.

• For example, if the insured side shows $45,250.21 on the PDF, make sure the extracted data also reads $45,250.21.
✓ If both numbers match, you’ve verified that the data extraction process was successful.

Next Step: Category Verification

Once both estimates are confirmed as accurate, you’re ready to move into the next step: verifying that the line items are categorized correctly. Check out the next video or article in the Help Center for that walkthrough.
